When you use AceType, we collect only the information necessary to provide and improve the service:
- Account details (display name, email) via Google Sign-In or email/password
- Typing test results (WPM, accuracy, difficulty, duration)
- Theme and typing preferences stored in your browser's local storage
- Basic browser metadata (IP address, session info) for security and analytics
2. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to:
- Display your typing history and statistics on your Profile page
- Sync your preferences and settings across sessions
- Improve the reliability and performance of the platform
- Detect and prevent fraudulent or abusive activity
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your account data is stored securely using Firebase (Google Cloud). Typing results and preferences are stored in Firestore, a cloud-hosted NoSQL database protected by Firebase Authentication. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest.
4. Third-Party Services
AceType integrates with the following third-party services:
- Firebase (Google) — Authentication, Firestore database, and hosting infrastructure
- Google Sign-In — Optional OAuth-based authentication
Each of these services has their own privacy policies which govern their handling of your data.
5. Cookies and Local Storage
AceType uses your browser's local storage to remember your selected theme and typing settings between sessions. No advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies are used. Firebase may use session tokens stored in IndexedDB for authentication purposes.
6. Data Retention
Your account and typing history data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at the email below. Upon deletion, all personally identifiable information will be removed from our systems within 30 days.
7. Children's Privacy
AceType is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us directly. We will respond to all requests within a reasonable timeframe.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of AceType after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
